Pixie & Pickles Adventures offers a unique service using Shetland Ponies.
We visit your home or establishment with selected ponies for therapy visits. Our ponies even have special pants to wear so that we can avoid mishaps! Our ponies are kind, gentle and loveable and adore their role as therapy ponies.
So what are therapy ponies and how can they help?
Studies have shown that human interaction with animals provides many benefits in all age groups. The presence of animals not only improves a person’s emotional health but also physical.
Horses are known to be sensitive and intuitive and they mirror human emotions.
Horses allow people to relax as they accept everyone without judgement.
Benefits of Pony therapy include:
- Lowers anxiety and stress
- Stimulates endorphins helping depression
- Reduces blood pressure
- Stimulates memory
Our ponies can visit:
- Care homes
- Womens refuge’s
- Mens refuge’s
- Hospitals

We can also come along to your event! Get in touch for more information.
Gosh, what a very wet and windy day for our therapy ponies to end their holiday on. They were soaked and being blown everywhere this morning, so they opted to come into bed for some rest and time to dry off. God knows why Romeo chose to lie on the concrete when he had a thick shavings bed in his stable.... whatever makes him happy!! It is so lovely to see them content and filling their little tummies with hay.

Our therapy ponies are enjoying the last few days of their autumn holiday before they start working the busy November and December months. They take this opportunity to completely switch off from their jobs and just be feral ponies. They are left to run and play in the fields with minimal interference from us - just checked twice a day. You will see from the video they are muddy, hairy and unbrushed. It is so important for our ponies to get quality 'down time' as they give so much throughout the year without expecting anything in return, so we give them these holidays to mentally switch off from offering empathy and support every day and let them concentrate on themselves and what the#therapyponiesarethebestarethebest
It's Tobys chance to make some precious memories today. He and Lindsey are going to a private home to give a very poorly family member some much needed pony cuddles and love. The mother of the family had a spotted horse when she was younger and would love the opportunity to see one again but she is too frail to get out, so Toby has stepped in to fill her request. Toby is a mini spotted pony and although he is tiny, he has a big personality and loves attention from people so both he this lady will be very happy.
We are sadly doing more of these 'memory making' visits these days which we are honoured to do and our therapy ponies totally understand and read the situation as soon as they enter the room, instantly becoming more cuddly, huggable and close t#therapyponiesarethebestoniesarethebest
Our therapy ponies visit SEN schools, hospitals, care homes, hospices, businesses and occasionally someones own house. This morning Charlie and Lindsey went on a very special visit to meet a beautiful lady and her family, in the comfort of their own home. Charlie fell asleep in the lounge enjoying lots of cuddles, whilst Lindsey chatted about the therapy ponies and the unique work they do. It is such an honour to do this job and to be able to make some lasting, precious memories with wonderful families.
