Women’s Refuge, Hertfordshire. Feb 2022.
We took Arthur and Charlie along to the women’s refuge to meet the mothers and the children currently staying there.
The refuge wrote “We had some special visitors to the refuge today. Two therapy ponies called Charlie and Arthur came to spend some time with our residents and children this afternoon. The children met the ponies in our playroom then took them outside to walk around the garden. The pony handlers explained to the children what the ponies like to do and most importantly what they eat. They told us how important it was to be quiet and calm around the ponies so as not to frighten them. This fabulous real-life opportunity was an enriching experience for the children. This type of opportunity promotes confidence within each child and lays foundations for the future. Each child, resident and even the staff thoroughly enjoyed themselves. What a fantastic start to our half term break at the refuge”.
